What is Toe Nail Fungus?

image 90Toe & nail fungus or Onychomycosis, is the most common cause of yellow, thick and deformed toenails. The nails often become rough and brittle, and often tend to separate from the nail bed. The fungus that infects the toenail is usually the same fungus that causes athletes foot. Toe & nail fungus tends to be a progressive infection that damages the nail and worsens if not treated.

The infection usually starts at the tip of the nail and progresses gradually to the nail bed and can affect a single toenail or several nails on one foot or both feet. The fungus tends to thrive in moist and dark environments, therefore it is more likely to affect toenails (sweaty feet inside shoes) than fingernails.

image 91Toenail fungus is a chronic condition that can impact your quality of life and can even lead to serious health problems for patients with diabetes or immune disorders. The treatment of toenail fungus is difficult because the infection is under the nail, which makes it hard for medications to reach and fight the fungus.

Vaderma Laser Nail Clinics now offer the PinPointe™ FootLaser, the first clinically proven laser procedure for nail fungus. PinPointe provides temporary improvement in clear nail growth in a single visit with none of the adverse effects seen with topical and oral alternatives.

Our laser’s proprietary pulse modulation effectively targets the fungus without causing damage to the surrounding area or discomfort to the patient. The entire procedure can be performed in less than 30 minutes, and results can be seen in as little as one treatment.

What is PinPointe™?

With almost an 80% success rate, Laser is now the new modality for treatment of discolored and fungal nails compared to potentially harmful oral medications.
