Pre and Post Laser Nail Treatement

The success of the PinPointe™ laser treatment largely depends on the care of your feet and nails after treatment.  Following these steps will help in the overall result of your treatment and aid in the chance of re-infection of the nail(s).

  • Normal physical activity can resume immediately.
  • Apply a topical antifungal cream such as Lamisil or Lotrimin cream twice a day to the skin of your feet and between your toes, for the first two weeks. (Not on your nails).
  • Then apply an anti-fungal spray such as Lotrimin AF spray once a day before putting your shoes and socks on until your nails grow out.
  • Clean shoes regularly with an anti-bacterial spray like Lysol.  We recommend at least once a week.
  • Purchase of a Steri-shoe® sanitizer is also highly recommended and available right here in the office.
  • Applying nail polish to your nails is safe right after your treatment.  We suggest using an anti-fungal nail polish such as daniPro®.  We carry a wide variety to choose from as well

Additional Tips:

  • If you get regular pedicures, wait two weeks after the treatment.
  • Clean your toenail clippers with alcohol before each use and make sure to replace emery boards and orange sticks regularly.
  • Wear cotton socks and change them regularly; try to avoid nylons.
  • Keep feet clean and dry.
  • Keep athletic shoes clean and dry and change them regularly.  Choose breathable footwear.  Throw out old and worn shoes.
  • Avoid wearing closed shoes without socks.
  • Protect feet in pool areas, locker rooms, and hotels. Wear flip-flops if possible.
  • Recognize and treat athlete’s foot immediately.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns at anytime please feel free to call our office.
